Auditions

(UPDATED INFO TO BE RELEASED CLOSER TO THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR)

Auditions are strictly for placement and do not impact your membership in the band.

For your audition, you will be asked to play a prepared solo, play some major scales, and sight read.

  1. Prepared solo:
All prepared solos will be excerpts from a piece we plan to play later in the year and will be available as soon as the music is available.
  2. Scales:
You will be asked to play three major scales. These three scales will be among the 7 scales that range from three flats to three sharps. Note that these scales are relative to your instrument. For example, if you are asked to play a Bb scale, you should play the major scale that starts on your Bb, not concert Bb, unless you read in concert pitch to begin with. The scales can be downloaded using this link (PDF).
  3. Sight Reading
You will have a short period of time to look over the excerpt before playing. You will also be given a tempo before playing.

Excerpts are now available!

Excepts can be downloaded here.
